Loon Brewery is located at the brink of the picturesque esdorp Loon in Drenthe. Here organic beers are brewed from organic malts in the old cold store of the village, where back in the days the villagers used to keep their meet and vegetables. We are small-scale and use electricity that is generated by our own solar panels.

From January 1, 2019, we have been formally designated as the place of excise goods. The environmental permit for our micro-brewery was granted on 17 January 2019.

Loon

Loon (www.esdorploon.nl) is an esdorp in the province of Drenthe, municipality of Assen, northeast of the city of Assen. Loon had approximately 285 inhabitants on January 1, 2018.

Loon is a typical Drenthe village. It lies on the edge of the National stream and village landscape the Drentsche Aa. The Drentsche Aa, here called Looner Diep, flows past the village. Just outside Loon you can find a hunebed (D15).

A bronze dog is on guard at the entrance of the village. As the protector of his pack, he keeps an eye on who enters and leaves the village. A little further on, two bronze sheep symbolize the agricultural past of Loon.
